In 2023, federal data documents that workers in the logging industry are roughly 33 times more likely to suffer from a fatal workplace injury compared to those in other civilian occupations.

This training responds to important workplace needs
Logging is a dangerous industry.
Between 2018 and 2022, 249 logging, conservation and forest workers died in job-related accidents in the United States.* In Oregon alone, 53 logging industry workers died between 2018 and 2023.
​
Chapters 6 and 7 of the Oregon OSHA Yarding and Loading Handbook have been adapted into the online and accessible Oregon Yarding and Loading Interactive Safety Training. This training is meant to supplement the essential training offered by employers.

Recommendations for rigging the yarding lines

Accessing the Training
Learners can access the training through the Oregon Institute of Occupational Health Sciences at OHSU Learning Management System. This system is supported by Articulate Reach 360.
To access the training:

2. After you've created an account, you will be able to
access the training you have been assigned.
3. If you do not complete the full training in one sitting you
can use the link provided to return to the training at
your convenience.
4. There are two training modules; you will need to
complete Module One before you can advance to
Module Two. Once you've completed Module Two,
you'll be able to download the Certificate of
Completion.
